Target® doesn’t always beat its competitor’s prices. But that’s why they’ve got Target® price matching. They will match prices with nearly every competitor. And the process is simple, too. We show you how you can go about it.

Use your phone to price match

In order to price match at Target®, you’ll need to carry proof of the lower price to present to the cashier at checkout. The proof can be in the form of a printed local ad or a page accessed via your phone browser. Another way to do this is to click a picture at the competitor’s store and show it to the cashier.

There is yet another way to claim more savings after you price match an item from a competitor. Just use your Target RedCardTM and you will get an extra 5% off. Apart from online retailers, Target® also price matches with brick-and-mortar stores but you need to ensure you have an image of the lower price or a printed local ad.

Price matching online

If you wish to price match a purchase made through the Target® website with another website, contact 1-800-591-3869 or their customer service. The catch is that you can only price match within 14 days of your purchase in-store or online.

Exceptions to price matching

Not everything can be price matched. There are exclusions you must keep in mind while shopping. Depending on the state you live in, alcohol can’t be price matched. You will also not be able to match prices of items in clearance or closeout sales, or those that are damaged or opened. Pre-owned and refurbished items aren’t allowed, too, as are gift card offers and lightning sales. You will also not be allowed to price match items by third-party marketplace sellers.
