Offering products at consistently low prices, Dollar General is a great store for your everyday shopping needs. But if you would like to save even more money on your day-to-day purchases, you may want to consider couponing. Here are 5 tips to coupon the right way at Dollar General and maximize your savings.
Look out for clearance events at Dollar General®
Clearance sales happen all through the year at Dollar General®. Most store locations host clearance sales at the end of the season and after major holidays like Halloween, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Christmas, and Thanksgiving. During these sales, you may find products marked down significantly. If you can use your coupons on these items that are marked down, you could save a lot. Keep in mind that not all stores will allow you to use coupons on discounted items at all times.
Stack store coupons with manufacturer coupons
Did you know you can combine a Dollar General store coupon with a manufacturer coupon, provided the terms for both coupons don’t state they cannot be used in combination with other coupons? But, before you attempt to do this, make sure to check the terms and conditions since there could be exceptions.
Dollar General® doesn’t offer rain checks, so you can’t use coupons on out-of-stock items
When shopping at Dollar General®, if you find a product you like at a good price and if you can use a coupon on it, make sure to grab it as soon as you can. Keep in mind that Dollar General® does not offer rain checks on out-of-stock items, so there’s no way you can use your coupon on items once they go out-of-stock.
Make sure you carry the original coupon with you
Dollar General® only accepts original coupons. So, keep in mind that you cannot produce a photocopy of a coupon at the checkout counter, and expect it to be accepted. Similarly, the store also doesn’t accept screenshots of coupons, pictures of the coupon, and internet coupons that don’t have a scannable barcode.
Dollar General® accepts 5 identical coupons per day
If your coupons don’t have a limit stated on them, you should know that Dollar General® will allow you to use no more than 5 identical coupons each day. So, keep this in mind when planning your shopping trip to the store.
