Believe it or not, Craigslist is full of freebies! From free books to furniture to clothes, and even free mattresses, you can find so much free stuff on Craigslist, as long as you know where to look. In this article, we’ve broken this process down step-by-step so that you can easily find free items near you using Craigslist!

Step 1: Go to your city’s Craigslist

First, head on over to Craigslist. Today, most cities have their own section. When searching for Craigslist online, you’ll be automatically directed to the Craigslist section of your city.

Step 2: Find the free section

After this, you’ll be directed to the classified ads for your city. Over here, you’ll want to find the “For Sale” section. Under this section, you’ll see a section called “Free.” Upon clicking this option, you’ll be taken to ads for free stuff on Craigslist in your city.

Step 3: Filter the results

Once you’re on the page that displays all the free stuff you can get in your city, you’ll be able to browse all the freebies that are near you. If you’re looking for something specific, you can also filter your results to find what you’re looking for. Use the search bar at the top of the page to search for a particular item.

The filters to the left of the results include things like:

  • Search titles only
  • Has an image
  • Posted today

Use these filters to get more accurate results.

Step 4: Choose your free stuff

You can now click on the listings that you’re interested in. Here, you can reply to the person who’s giving the stuff away. Do have a read of the item’s description and browse through the photos first. If you’d like to get the free item, you should get in touch with the seller. While some want you to call them, others will want you to get in touch through email. To begin, click the “reply” button at the top of the ad.

And, that’s all there is to it! Ensure you check the condition of the item before you bring it home.
